Caring for your long hair and keeping it looking its
best takes special attention. Just washing and drying your hair can be
quite a task in itself. But being choosy
about the products you use will help you manage and protect your hair from
breakage and hair loss.
Salon
Marjan recommends using Cristalliste
Hair Care products by Kérastase-
specifically designed for long hair. Kerastase calls their Cristalliste
products "the best kept secret for long
hair".
Do you have fine long hair that tends to be dry and
weighed down at the roots? Add volume and nourish your dry, split ends with Bain
Cristal Fine Shampoo for fine hair. The
roots are cleansed and hair is left luminous, airy and incredibly alive. Used
with the Liquid Light Complex, this
system will leave your hair looking beautiful without weighing it down.
For thicker, long hair, we suggest the Cristalliste perfecting shampoo that
removes impurities with a high foaming cleanser to get down to the roots, enhancing
your hair's natural shine.
Salon Marjan offers expert care and advice to keep
your long hair looking its best. We
offer these do's and don'ts to help you manage your long hair.
-
Ponytails and Braids: Try not to braid your hair too
tightly which can cause breakage or hair loss and never sleep in a tight braid
or ponytail. Use specially treated bands
or scrunchies to secure your hair and limit your use of clips and bows
-
Trim Your Hair: Even if you are trying to grow it longer,
it's best to trim your hair once every 3 months to get rid of split ends which
weaken the hair.
-
Use a Gentle Touch when Detangling: Always use a
wide tooth comb or pick or even your fingers when detangling your hair, working
from the tips of your hair to the roots.
Detangle sections of your hair at a time and go in a downward direction.
Never brush your hair when it is wet.
Wet hair tends to stretch and break when wet.
If you detangle your hair before
shampooing, it will alleviate the
number of knots and tangles later. Blot
your hair with a towel to get out excess water; don't rub it which can cause
more tangles.
-
Sleep Well:
Using a satin or silk pillowcase when you sleep is gentler on your hair. Hair can get caught on a cotton pillowcase
and break, especially if you toss and turn at night.
Another
alternative is to wear a silk or satin scarf at night.
-
Brush Your Hair: Brushing
your hair distributes the oils across the length of your hair to keep it
from drying out. Just like in the movies,
brush your hair in long strokes, starting at the roots, and follow it by
stroking with your hand to get rid of static.
The
jury is out whether you should adhere to the "100 strokes" method of days gone
by, however. That was developed in the days when people only washed their hair
once a month. Luckily, we have great luxury hair care products like Cristalliste to help us clean and
nourish our hair. So when it comes to
brushing, moderation is called for.
Want to bring back that healthy glow and shimmer to
your long hair? You can
